As Within, So Without: The Animadversion Toward the New Aeon Uncategorized December 21, 2025December 21, 20251 by Soror O.X. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. The New Aeon announces itself through a fundamental reversal of how reality is oriented. It does not gently revise inherited beliefs. It overturns the axis on which meaning, authority, and divinity have been placed for centuries. The refusal at its core is not a rejection of meaning itself, but a rejection of transcendence understood as an external command imposed from above. In its place, the New Aeon establishes a new orientation in which divinity, authority, and purpose arise from within. What follows is an examination of that reversal, the animadversion that defines the New Aeon as an inversion of cosmology, ritual, psychology, and ethics. This is not simply a change of symbols or names for the divine. It is a complete reorientation of where the sacred is found. What was once sought beyond the world is now discovered as immanent, interior, and self-generating at the center of every star. The animadversion toward the New Aeon names a deliberate and ritualized turning away from the Old Aeon, top-down structure of reality. It is a sort of reversal. The universe is deliberately turned upside down so that what was once external, vertical, and imposed becomes internal, immanent, and self-igniting. In The Vision and the Voice, this reversal appears in the image of the fallen King who strips himself of crown and sceptre after realizing that his authority has already ended. His lament marks the end of his paternal authority as a top-down governing principle. The theological tower built toward a distant God collapses, and those who are expelled from it must learn to walk upon their hands. This is not parody or mockery, however. It is a necessity of those who will thrive in this new world. The sacred can no longer be constructed from above. It must arise from within the core of each individual star. “I am the flame that burns in every heart of man, and in the core of every star. I am Life, and the giver of Life, yet therefore is the knowledge of me the knowledge of death.”-Liber AL II:6 Liber Reguli takes this metaphysical reversal and gives it concrete form through movement, direction, and physical action. The ritual begins with what it explicitly calls the Animadversion toward the Æon. The magician does not look upward for guidance or power. He turns instead toward Boleskine, a specific earthly location chosen as the symbolic East. Orientation itself is reversed. Sacred space is no longer aligned with a throne imagined beyond the world. It is aligned with a place within the world that represents incarnation, will, and manifestation. The elevenfold battery that follows expresses the magical energy of the New Aeon. This energy does not seek harmony through submission to a higher order. It is generated through tension, repetition, and active polarity of dynamic interlocked opposites. The central act of this animadversion is expressed in the vertical gesture of the Enchantment. Nuit is traced as a circle around the head and encloses rather than descends. Hadit is drawn downward to the root, to the muladhara, the hidden point at the base of the body. Ra-Hoor-Khuit is then established at the heart. This single sequence dismantles the old cosmology in which heaven is above and hell is below. Heaven is now understood as everywhere, as the infinite body of Nuit within which one exists. Hell is no longer a place of punishment beneath the world. It is the interior point of ignition, the secret fire of Hadit at the center of the self. The divine axis therefore runs inward rather than upward. For this reason, the Aeonic formula shifts from “as above, so below” to “as within, so without.” “Within me the Powers.”-Liber Reguli The horizontal gestures complete the reversal. The names AIWAZ, THERION, and BABALON are inscribed across the face, the breast, and the loins. Speech, force, and flesh are joined into a single circuit of power. The sigil that is formed is dependent upon the Circle itself, which means that no external or transcendent reference point remains except the infinite Naught. The proclamation LAShTAL states the metaphysical structure of the New Aeon in compressed form through LA, AL, and ShT. Nothingness, Being or duality, and their resolution in Becoming are no longer ranked as higher or lower realities. They are phases of a single ongoing process, and each phase is equally sacred. “Four Words: Naught-One-Many-All. Thou-Child!”-The Book of Lies This animadversion has ethical and psychological consequences as well. Liber Reguli demands the destruction of false oppositions between pure and impure, sacred and profane, and good and evil when considered in an absolute sense. This does not grant permission for chaos or excess. It removes fear. By learning to face what the mind instinctively rejects, the magician dismantles the internal idols that survive after external gods have fallen. The fear of a universe without imposed law gives way to a deeper recognition. Necessity and freedom are identical when one’s Will is understood as the expression of one’s own nature. “Bind nothing! Let there be no difference made among you between any one thing & any other thing; for thereby there cometh hurt.”-Liber AL I:22 The New Aeon therefore does not replace one hierarchy with another. It abolishes the nature or structure of hierarchy itself. Each magician stands at the center of the circle and declares identity rather than obedience by affirming that they are a Star. The universe is no longer governed from above or redeemed from below. It is lived from within. Each star burns at its own center, and every action becomes an expression of Hadit’s fire within the infinite body of Nuit. This is the animadversion toward the New Aeon. The world is turned inside out, and in that reversal its divinity is revealed. “Had! The manifestation of Nuit. The unveiling of the company of heaven.”-Liber AL I:1-2 The animadversion toward the New Aeon is not a theory or interpretation. This represents an irreversible magical act. Once the axis of reality has been turned inward, there is no return to supplication and no rebuilding of the collapsed tower. There is no longing for a heaven that once stood apart from the world. The act has been performed in the body, fixed in space, and ignited in consciousness. Each star now carries divinity as its inherent condition. To reject this is to cling to a dead structure of meaning, the crumbling edifices of a fallen aeon. To accept it is to stand upright in a reversed universe and recognize that nothing essential has been lost. The gods and the law of the Old Aeon have been destroyed, it’s true: but the new covenant reveals a new law and the new gods: “Every man and every woman is a star.-Liber AL I:3 The final result of the animadversion is simple and absolute. The universe no longer commands us from without because it has awakened from within. Love is the law, love under will.
